How can a thought, feeling, sound, or smell so quickly whip us back into a memory?
Why do these seemingly insignificant moments bubble to the surface? Are they to remind us that we are an accidental collection of experiences or an intentional gallery of actions?
nostalgia
The poetry of Nostalgia highlights the memories of the melancholy, the struggle, and the joy of a single life, Melissa's life. Memories that evoke feelings we all share either as the star of the show or from the front row in our journey of life. Moments that shaped and defined us, whether we wanted them to or not. Nostalgia can be found anywhere books are sold.
who is this book for?
For those who find themselves daydreaming the past, reliving cherished moments, forgiving flippant choices, and learning from mistakes. For the nostalgic - the one who happily pays admission, with the minutes of the present, to live in the past.
sneak peak
drifting
When I find myself alone,
my mind, by default,
will drift to the daily things
that weigh me down,
but if l'm really lucky,
my mind will drift to Paris,
to the corner cafe where the chairs faced out,
where we licked our cheeks sticky with pastry,
and listened to high heels on cobblestones,
dreaming of where people went,
an acoustic guitar strumming our bones.
